Why?

Many people have heard of the myth in which a philosophy student is faced with an exam question that simply asks "WHY?" and the pupil received full marks by answering "WHY NOT?".

This wise-tale is analogous with my reasoning for starting this blog. "WHY NOT" start a blog?

For some time now I have been considering starting a blog but did not becuase of the sensitivity of my occupation for the last three years.

Ironically reading Blogs was an essential component of effectively performing the duties of my former occupation.

With great interest, I have revisited on many occasions, Blogs such as those written by fellow Newfoundlanders and Labradorians; Liam OBrien, Geoff Meeker and Ed Hollet.

I can clearly remember when I first heard the word Blog. Someone had asked me if I had seen Liam O'Brien's Blog. I didn't know what to think. "Did I see Liam O'Brien's Blog"? What a question to ask someone I thought.

But one thing I learned from my years in the military is - DO NOT ASSUME . So I did not.

What is a Blog?

According to Wikipedia, "A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog."

The Blog that I have created, "The Jigger", will be a collection of my personal views regarding matters that are of interest to me and to anyone else who cares to share and exchange ideas.

On a side-note...I look forward to engaging in intelligent debate and discussion through this forum. I do not beilieve in censorship. But I am a firm believer in professionalism. Any offensive material will be removed from the forum.
